For nine years, Alicia lived in Morocco where she savored the smell of mint tea and simmering couscous, daily saw lofty minarets and heard the scuttle of donkey carts delivering milk while her kids did math facts in the front room. Writing became her mainstay as she could no longer verbally process with family and friends miles away. She strove to capture her world through blogs, newsletters, and articles, evolving her into a writer.
She has five children and has homeschooled for 15 years, sometimes on the go. Finishing a freewrite while riding cross-country in their old bumpy Moroccan four-wheel drive was an amusing memory. Packing excessive amounts of school books in her limited airline baggage, not so much.
She earned her B.A. in Communication at Miami University (Ohio) and recently completed a Foundations in Counseling Certificate from the organization CCEF. Her passions resonate with the Brave Writer lifestyle, focusing on persons and encouraging the language that’s inside a person to emerge into written form.
She collects scarves, grows herbs, and loves learning about cultures. She currently lives outside of Chicago.
